What if we said it would be Ron Paul? Would you think we were crazy? Before you answer that, take a look at our user activity.
We didn’t set out to answer this question, so this is in no way scientific. We’ve just been encouraging people to talk about their candidates as part of supporting people’s passions.
Yet the results are striking. Just click on each candidate to see the difference in activity on each page:
It’s immediately clear that Ron Paul supporters are way more passionate about their candidate than Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney supporters are of theirs. The Ron Paul page has 90 conversations. To show their support, some people have even changed their avatars to Ron Paul images. Compare that to Newt’s page with 4 conversations, and Mitt’s page with no conversations as of today.
You could argue that Ron Paul’s supporters are simply more passionate, but not necessarily higher in number. Good point. In fact there are many good points you could make about why our page activity isn’t predictive. Still, the contrast is so clear that it makes you wonder if Ron Paul really will be the next Republican nominee. We won’t know until we know, but it’s fun to wonder whether our crowd of users is right in this case.
